This is me presenting my Roald Dahl and His Work project, History Fair 2012
The
Man Behind The Pictures…
Quentin

What was it like working with Roald Dahl?
To begin with, I was a bit nervous. He was quite a powerful figure. But we got on very well. He liked winding me up - only in the most harmless way. I often wore these white shoes, and he'd say 'Here's old Quent' - no-one else ever calls me that - 'here's old Quent, he's going out for dinner in his plimsolls!'
What was so nice about Roald was that he actually wanted the pictures - he didn't like it if there weren't enough. Not all authors are like that. We worked together for 13 years from 1977, until he died.

R. Dahl lived from September 13, 1916 till 1990. (84 years.)
That’s a long life for someone who smokes cigars and pipes. R.Dahl had such a
messy desk that he did not write anything on it! Instead he just got a piece
of wood and put the piece of wood across
the two arms of his couch and used that for his desk. When R.Dahl was a kid he
lived in Gipsy house for most of his life including his childhood. R.Dahl’s half
brother’s name was Louis Dahl. I do not know his father’s or his mother’s name
but his wife’s name is Pat. R.Dahl had a goat named Alma and a dog named Jelly.
R.Dahl was a very large man he was 6’6”. . R.Dahl’s children were Theo, Tessa,
Olivia, and Ophelia.
Roald Dahls Goat-Alma
In 1943. Dahl wrote his first children's book, The
Gremlins. Eleanor Roosevelt read it to her grandchildren and liked it so much
that she invited him to have dinner with her and the President at the White
House. They had such a good time that he was invited again, and then the visits
extended to weekends at their country house. During those visits, Dahl had the
unique opportunity to talk with President Franklin Roosevelt about world events
as casually as one might have a conversation with a very old friend. It was a
very exciting experience for him.
MY TOP FIVE ROALD DAHL BOOKS:
1. James
and the Giant Peach.
2. Charlie
and the Great Glass Elevator.
3. George’s Marvelous Medicine.
4. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
5. BFG.
R.Dahl had comfort and a lot of stress. For example: when Olivia died at the age of seven from measles.
